  • The mobile version of the app is available to download and can be used independently of a Smart TV.
  • To fully enjoy the Social TV community, a compatible TV may be necessary. Go to your TV’s app Market to download Type2TV version for that TV.
  • Group Chats and Messages that are a part of the “MY CHATS” tab on your Mobile app, are all there for you on the TV – once you sign in.
  • You can use a number of ways to sign in or sign up on the mobile app. Sign in or sign up by:
    • Email address
    • Facebook
    • Twitter
    • Google+

To sign into your TV version of the app, first press “Get TV Code” from your Profile window of the mobile app. Use this code to authenticate you and sign into your TV app.

  • Type2TV app works best for Live TV Chats.

This app overlays your phone screen. Therefore, to hide the app your quickest option it to press the Hide button. This is always accessible from the overflow buttons [3 dots in the top right of the app screen].

Another way to hide our app is to press your device’s ‘Back’ button.

The app is always open in your Device Notification drop-down, for easy access.


General Questions

Q.) How do I register?
A.) To register is as easy a few clicks. There are two main ways. You can sign up by email address or by other social accounts (Facebook, Twitter and Google +)

Q.) How do I Reset my password
A.) Password reset can only be done on the mobile app. From the initial authentication page, press “sign in,” this will bring you to the sign in page, once you are on the sign in page, press the “Forgot your password” link, then follow the prompts and instructions.

Q.) Do the TV and mobile devices have to be on the same Wifi or network?
A.) No. As long as all devices are connected to the Internet, you can access the app and chat.

Q.) Can I sign into the TV app without the mobile app?
A.) No. The mobile app is needed in order to generate a sign in code for the TV.

Q.) Can I use the app without a compatible TV?
A.) Yes. You definitely can take advantage of a variety of Chats, Instant messages, Contacts, Friend Invites, etc. with just the mobile app. Note: compatible TVs are needed to fully utilize the app and its features.


MOBILE APP (guide)

Chats are made up of three categories. These three categories can be seen on the app’s main page. The three are DiscoverMy Chats, and Notifications.

Discover Tab consists of all public Chats in the app, this includes ones you have joined, and ones you can join.

My Chats tab includes only the Chats you have joined.

Notifications Tab shows invitations from friends to new Chats.

Menu Button or Draw out Menu can be reached by pressing the 3 lines at the top left of the app window. It is accessible and can be drawn out from almost every screen of the app. From the Menu you will find; Chats, Contacts, Profile, Share the App, and Settings.

Profile page – this includes your Display photo, Display name, Username, Status, Airtime and other Credentials.

Contacts listings are divided into three tabs – [Discoverable, Added, and Connected]. Discoverable tab is where you can meet new and existing users, it includes friends you have added and also friends you can add. The Added tab is simply the ones you have already added. Connected tab lists all the contacts you have added that is currently connected or using Type2TV.

Share the app – was built so you can send a quick note and link to the Type2TV app to your friends letting them know of the fun you are having and to join the Type2TV phenomenon quick!

Overflow button – this is located on the top right of the app window in the form of 3 vertical dots. Pressing the dots, you will find Floating mode, Minimize and Hide. In some instances, you will find Resize, Reserve, Block Contact, Settings, Chat Details and Leave Chat.

Floating mode – this along with Resize, or Minimize, are just some of the many window sizes or window orientation of the app. Use Floating mode to change the size of the app window, so you can multi-task.

Block Contact – you can block without adding a user. Blocked Contacts won’t be able to view your Profile, send you Invitations or Direct Message you.

Reserve – is used to simply hide a Direct Chat from your Chat listings (Discover and My Chats) until a later time. Chats that are reserved (hidden) will once again show if a message is received from it by the other user or sent to that user from you.

Support Us – You think these current app features are outstanding? We have way cooler ones in store. Help us bring these to life quickly. In the mobile app, the Support us link can be found in your settings and also when the app window is in its minimized state. On the website, Support Us is located on the fourth tab of the Main page

Green Plus located on the Discover Chats and My Chats window, when pressed allows you to create a new Group Chat, or start a Direct Chat (1 on 1 private Chat) with one of your Contacts.

+ Add a participant – on the main page, this button by default is gray and turns green when you join that particular Chat. Once it is green, you can use it to add any of your Contacts to that chat. This will then send an invitation to that Contact for them to join the Chat.

Endorse ? – once you are a participant of any Group Chat, you can endorse it by pressing the Heart ?.

Search – is there for your convenience to easily find a Chat or Contact – just type the name in. Note: searching via hashtags (#) is also possible.

Opacity by default is when the marker is set all the way to the right. The Opacity marker is fully adjusted to the left. Once this button is moved to towards the left, this allows the conversation screen to be transparent and shows your background display. Opacity can be found in Settings and is also accessible from the Conversation screen by pressing the overflow buttons then Settings.

Notifications – by default, this is set to ON. When set to the off position all invitations to Chats from other users will be muted.

Sounds – You can mute all Chats at once. Or you can mute the chats individually.

Username is created by you, it is permanent, private and secure. No one can see your Username. Username is separate from your Display name. Username or your Email can be used to sign you in from the login page.

Display Name is also created by you, you can change this as often as you like. Everyone can see your Display name.

Hashtags – are for keyword tagging. Type a hashtag to find Contacts with similar interests, or to find Trending Chats. Hashtags are applicable and active in your Features, the ‘About’ section of Group Chats, and Search.

The TV Login Code can also be found on the Profile Page. This code is needed to log into the TV app. Note: at compatible TV is needed in order to download the Type2TV app. See the main page of the website for Compatible TVs.

Discoverable – by default is set to ON. When set to ON, friends can easily find you.


Icons

Is found on the Profile Page. When pressed, it allows you to edit your Profile.
Allows you to easily invite a friend to a Group Chat. This by default is gray, it becomes green, and active once you join a Chat.
Is found on the All Chats and My Chats pages. This used to start or create Group or Direct Chats.
Is our Endorse button. This by default is gray, it becomes magenta, and active once you join a Chat. Press it to endorse or like a Chat.
Is our “File Report” button. It can be found on conversation screens. You can file a report on any content (messages or media) by long pressing on the message, then pressing the File Report button at the top of the window, and follow the pop-up instructions. Use this feature only to report misconduct or violation.

Cool Notifications Icons – below are cool icons that are placed next to user profiles when they make a profile update. It’s our unique way of notifying your friends, of your Profile updates, without sending an actual notification. As friends see the mini-icons, they know what’s up!

 

 When pressed will display a GIF flashing Beacon for users to see. This will draw attention to your Profile and attract visitors, who will check out your updates. It can be turned off by you the user, or it will turn off automatically in 24 hrs.
Is displayed next to a new user, it gives you a chance to welcome them and add them. It Displays for 72 hrs.
 Displays next to a user once he makes a Profile update. This displays for 24 hrs.
Displays next to a user once he joins a new Chat whether it be a Private or Direct Chat. This displays for 24 hrs. It is also displayed next to the Chats that the user has joined, under the users Interesting Chats listings.
Headphone – Displays next to a user once records an Airtime. This displays for 24 hrs.

AirTime – this is another one of the app’s unique features. Airtime allows you to record an audio status expressing your mood, thoughts, or even a Jingle. Record yours today, you’d be surprised how many listeners are entertained.

Chat Producer – the creator of a Chat whether Public or Private.

Chat Timer – Allows you to set a timer for a Group Chat to expire. Once the Timer is saved, it will start a countdown and the Chat will be deleted. Note: you can always edit, or turn off the Chat Timer.

Private Chats – joining one a Private Chat is simple, you can either be invited or ask the Chat Producer to be invited. Asking the Chat Producer to be invited can be done by pressing on the “Producer’s Page” link from the pop-up, then sending the producer a Direct text requesting an invite.

Q.) Can one message to TV with the TV’s remote?

A.) Sure, you can.

Q.) Can a User register, sign up or reset a password using just the Android TV app?

A.) No. All credential settings and authentication are done from the mobile app.

Q.) How do I remove the app overlay on the TV?
A.) Press the [back button] twice.

Q.) Can I send pictures to the TV?
A) Sure, yes you can. Pictures can be sent as Instant messages to the TV similar to how regular texts are sent.

Remote Buttons/Functions

The Up (^) or Down (v) buttons are used for scrolling up or down on any screen.

The Enter/O.K button is to select or confirm any action.

For Settings press the forward (>) button from the main, screen or conversation screens.

For Opacity, once in the Conversation screen press forward button (>) for settings, then use the left or buttons for Opacity Adjustments.

Exit by pressing the back (<) button until the app window is removed. Note, this doesn’t log you out from the app.

To Log out, go to Settings, then Logout.
